I am all about old-school fun and finding different ways to get kids moving during this time of year. One of my favorite childhood activities was roller-skating! I used to skate around my neighborhood, skate on smooth tiled floor in the front of an old movie theater in the heart of the city and when I was really lucky, I got to go to a local skating rink. Skating rinks are still around and still provides the entertainment I remember from yesteryear. There are several rinks located throughout the metro area, check out your local options below:

KIDS SKATE FOR FREE
Kids Skate Free is a program where kids get a free pass to roller skate at a local roller rink (skates are extra). Participants must register with their local rink and then receive emails with passes.
Roller Skating Atlanta rinks that currently participate in the program are listed below. For a list of other rinks, visit the Kids Skate Free website. Once you find your preferred local rink, click on the green “Register for This Skating Center” banner and fill out the form. Shortly thereafter you will receive an email asking you to confirm your email address. Once confirmed, you’re a registered member of “Kids Skate Free”! The first set of passes is emailed the Sunday following your registration.
Remember, each skating center has their own age requirements; so check your preferred rink’s rules.

ATLANTA CHURCH SKATING
A few local churches open up their large gyms for afternoon skating. Although it may not be like the fancier skating rinks listed above, they can still offer great, affordable family fun! Often, you don’t need to be a member of the church and some even have skates you can rent. Here are a few we know about and be sure to call for additional information and availability.
